Apparently the church has a "director of Catholic LGBTQ+ ministry" who appears to be gay and led the service. He writes that "I believe we are witnessing the evolution of doctrine, so I have hope." This seems unusual for the RC church. Evolution of doctrine? What would that mean?
Probably the same thing Newman meant when he spoke of "development of doctrine."
Churches that have multiple sources of authority---not just Scripture but also tradition, Fathers, papal authority, prophecy, new revelations, human reason---naturally leave the door open for development/evolution of doctrine.
Lutherans might see themselves adjusting application of a text (how Law and Gospel address the hearers). But they see Scripture and doctrine as stable (e.g., Jude 3). An example might be the Southern synods that allowed for slavery in early America, a position I think no Lutheran Church would allow or encourage today.
