America, just got to go. It has been demonstrated that America has a long history of racism, misogyny, homophobia, and oppression of the people who were here when the Europeans arrived. All in all, is there really anything great about America?

Don't forget that America is named after an Italian navigator.  Not Columbus, thank goodness, but still an Italian interloper.
Our nation’s capital is named after both Washington and Columbus. Oh my.
An amusing/sad aside:
For a time, DC's drivers licenses were headed "District of Columbia."  Unfortunately, a small but persistent cadre of TSA agents and others did not know what the District of Columbia was.  They thought that the DC licenses came from some foreign land.  To eliminate the resulting problems, the DC government changed its drivers licenses to say "Washington, DC."  That episode strikes me as both amusing and pathetic.
Along the same lines, many designs of the New Mexico license plates have "USA" on them.
Yeah ... what a surprise that the citizens of New Mexico are proud to be citizens of the USA.

Most USA citizens are!

The "USA" is put there because too many people from other states don't realize that New Mexico is part of the USA and not part of Mexico. One friend talked about arguing with someone on the phone in Florida who insisted that she needed a passport to travel there from New Mexico.
"The church … had made us like ill-taught piano students; we play our songs, but we never really hear them, because our main concern is not to make music, but but to avoid some flub that will get us in dutch." [Robert Capon, _Between Noon and Three_, p. 148]

That's why we need the border patrol and border controls, otherwise too many people would escape the horrors of life in the USA for the glories of life in Mexico and countries south.

Sounds like a symptom of an educational system deficiency.  It seems my nephews learned states and capitals in elementary school ... middle school at the latest.

I may not remember every state capital, but most of them ... but then I’ve slept since then.😷

That’s simple ... it’s context or a simple question ... Washington state or DC?

Oh, my.  That hits too close to home.  I wish they hadn't made the pastor a woman, but otherwise, its right on the money.

“Lutheran” is still a valid word, and we have officially, frequently and internationalLy repudiated end apologized for the anti-Semitic portions of Luthers writings.
You should consult with the former president of ELCA's Union Seminary concerning the value of heartfelt apologies and repudiations.

That's "United Seminary." "Union Seminary" is in NY, and has no affiliation with the ELCA.

Sorry, my mistake. Charles should talk to the former president of the United Seminary about how far a sincere apology and repudiation will get you.

Then there is the confusion between Washington, DC and that other Washington in the Pacific Northwest.

When the spouse and I lived on Capitol Hill we both obtained local driver's licenses, but retained out state versions using our parent's addresses.  DC is the one place where you can have a license based on your domicile while retaining your residence elsewhere - a function of legislators and their staff working and living in DC. I always just said I lived in DC and left out the Washington bit.

As per the Babylon Bee, their satire is often brilliantly accurate.

I may be mistaken.  But in the Real ID era, I don't think that you can do this any longer.  It's definitely the case that DC only issues Real-ID compliant licenses (except to those ineligible for social security numbers or are in the country without legal status).  And federal law prohibits holding more than one Real-ID compliant drivers license or id care.

(Depending on the states involved, you still might be able to hold multiple licenses.   However, this will be true only if (i) no more than one of the licenses is Real-ID compliant and (ii) the issuing state(s) of the non-Real-ID license(s) permit you to hold multiple licenses simultaneously.)

This actually isn't the Babylon Bee.  It's CNN self-satirizing.  The Babylon Bee likely is upset at CNN for climbing onto the Bee's turf!
