Do we know when the electors are meeting and when we can expect the results of their votes?

I'm sorry, but is this a prediction again or has the election been made official and public? Where can a guy look for more info?

Prediction.  Today is the day, as has been listed at the www.csl.edu site.  It just states what has been stated about the electors and that the meeting is today.

Dave Benke

Thanks.  I thought perhaps I had missed the announcement.  True be told, I have not been following this all that closely -- all I know is what I read here, basically.

Miriam Webster defines predict as follows 'to declare or indicate in advance'.

Since your post occurred in advance of the actual votes being cast, it is a prediction.

Last anyone checked, being east of the Hudson does not negate Miriam Webster. 8)

Glad to see you agree with Bishop Benke.

If memory serves me correctly,  a Zoom Bible Study I was a part of this week included a member of the Board of Regents who stated that they would speak with the final candidates today prior to the final deliberations and vote.  No mention of time schedule.

From the Concordia Saint Louis Facebook page:

Today is an historic day. Electors will vote to issue a call this afternoon for the next president of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. As we await news of this decision, which will be shared here and on our website, we offer this prayer:

O God, from Whom comes all holy desires, all good counsel and all just works, we give You thanks that You have brought us to this day. We give You thanks for the leadership and service of Your servant Seminary President Dr. Dale A. Meyer, and pray You grant him refreshment and renewal in his retirement. Pour out also Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding upon the next president of Concordia Seminary, that he may equally lead and serve with joy and goodwill. Finally, give to us all, Your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, in the faith, hope and love that come through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

The real question is, what color smoke is appropriate in this situation?

Prayers ascending!

On Facebook the chair of the regents, Pr. Todd Pepperkorn, posted how he hopes he has enough coffee to get through the interviews of the candidates today and the selection of the new president. What a task!

Will they vote for a possible future for the seminary, or will they vote in hopes of maintaining the past? Stay tuned!

How would that look in your estimation?
Future = Which candidate(s)?
Past =   Which candidates(s)?

It will either be an institutional choice for the past (whether one in line with the Powers That Be in Synod, Inc.™, or one that would have looked relatively normal in 1983), or it will take the dangerous, future-oriented route and choose someone who might try to lead things in un-pre-approved directions (there's no guarantees here, either that that's what they'll do or that they'd succeed), a move which would draw fire from the Usual Noisy Gang and bunch up many sets of knickers.

An interesting choice of years.  Any reason for the year "1983"?

Only to avoid the 60s, 70s, and 1984. Too much baggage carried by any of those dates. Also to avoid a year in which a new president was elected (Barth was '82, I believe). Also to hark back to a time that was, while no less fraught, was comparably more stable, socially-speaking.
