All of the arguing over this ultimately will lead to the ratification of a resolution that only "commends".  In other words there are no teeth attached to this. (which the committee chair reminds us about once again).

The problem with all of these speeches is that they all describe personal experiences....which makes it tough.

Debate is ended by vote (although there is some confusion about the propriety of the vote).

Motion approved with 67% of the vote.

5-15 on Communion practice.

Affirmation once more on close(d) communion
Commending the CTCR on Questions and Answers Concerning the Communing of infants and Young Children.
Ask the CTCR to complete work on a study document on intinction.

The only new thing on this from ones passed at every other single convention since 1970-somthing is the inclusion of a call to study intinction.

Actually, my guess is that the convention hall rental agreement with times and rates had to be agreed upon in advance, so we're going to pay the same amount no matter how long anyone talks. Thus, if we reduce the minutes we talk we'll end up paying more per minute of talking than if we talked nonstop round the clock. Every minute nobody is talking is money being thrown down the drain. So please, line up at the mic to declare Jesus preferable to Satan, to encourage good deeds, heck, even just to tell jokes--anything to prevent the wasted money of silence.

Nice!  :D
Soli Deo Gloria!

Following the recognition of former presidents Bohlman, Kuhn, and Kieschnick we come back to floor committee 5.

But...before we do ... another parliamentary expert wants to present a new resolution which is ruled in order.

This is on the Nestle Aland Edition of the Greek New Testament. Innocuous, yes... but... given the central role that text criticism has played in the LCMS, and given a current controversy surrounding one of the professors at St. Louis who is engaged in text criticism this could be interesting....

The proposed resolution (p. 438 of Tuesday's Today's Business)  calls for a task force to examine the methodology of NA28.

Harrison attempts to explain the issue, mentions Kloha by name and assures the Synod of his faithfulness to the 1973 Scriptural Standards document.

estimated cost (bylaw requirement) $10-15,000

I admit to having trouble following the resolution. If it is determined that NA is suggesting we can't get back to a most probably original text, do we as a body bail on NA? Or is that too far down the road from this resolution?

President Harrison asks the proposing delegate if he will simply refer it to the President's office. Says he has the authority, and promises that he will do it. Delegate appears unwilling to yield, and does not.

Question is called "rudely" in the opinion of the chair.
82% say rude or not it is time to move on.

Resolution was approved, which I means that what president Harrison proposed to the proposing delegate will now be done but with the addition of the weight of a resolution from convention.

Speaking of confusion, #5 is not on the docket now it is #8 Parochial Schools.
