I find Donald Trump to be a serious candidate.  His win in New Hampshire and his poll numbers make him a very serious candidate.  I also find it to be a very serious concern that he is a serious candidate.  I think that there will be serious consequences for the nation if he is elected.

What I don't find him to be is a good candidate.  His admiration for Pres. Putin of Russia, his joking comments about the usefulness of Putin's manner of dealing with journalists, his joke about being able to shoot someone in broad daylight and not loose support both speak to a strong streak of authoritarianism in Trump that disturbs me.  Some of his policy proposals are not only unrealistic (getting Mexico to build us a wall along our border with them) but disturbing (shut out all Muslims, for a time).  His resorting to half-baked conspiracy theories, such as the anti-Obama birther theory and now the "Canadian Cruz".  Etc. etc.

He has struck a cord and tapped into a deep vein of discontent among very many people, his supersized ego and extravagant confidence, his willingness to resort to crude and vulgar language all qualify him to be demagogue in chief, but Commander in Chief?  I pray not.

Bottom Line:  If Trump wins the South Carolina and Nevada primaries,
then he may finally be taken as a serious candidate..
Not by me.

Nor by me.

Nor by me. Another embarrassing Jesse Ventura situation.   :(

Keep in mind, however, that "To not vote is to vote." Even though Jesse was governor the state survived.

I have a history of write-ins. I never voted for Ronald Reagan or any of his Democratic opponents but always voted.

I agree with Pastor Fienen's  rationale that Donald Trump is a serious
Presidential candidate but he is not a good candidate.

I personally believe that because of Trump's huge ego, he will eventually
self-destruct during this campaign season.   Pride goes before the fall.

Nor me.

Nor me. But then I'm a Democrat.  ;)

Seriously, though, given who my party is putting forward, I desperately want to be able to consider voting for the Republican candidate. Trump would not make that possible.

Again, we in New York are watching
Bernie Sanders of Brooklyn
Hillary Clinton of Chappaqua, Westchester County
Donald Trump of Trump Tower, Manhattan
and possibly
Michael Bloomberg of Wherever He Chooses to Live on the East Side of Manhattan

Among whom the entire country might be choosing its next President.

Why can't NY come up with an even remotely palatable candidate? What's up with you guys?

Bloomberg was a very good mayor for this city.

o  Reformed the Board of Education by evicting them and making them start from scratch. His predecessors tried hard to reform education but were always defeated by the teachers' union.
o  No graft or corruption; he's too wealthy to sell any decision.
o  Made the bureaucracy much more transparent.
o  Manifested all kinds of common sense all the time.
o  Voters made an exception to term limits (two) so he served for twelve years.

That does not mean he would be a good president but it might well be a good start and he surely looks much better to me than some candidates.

Peace, JOHN

Bloomberg is way more than remotely palatable.  He's actually sane.

I see where attorneys for Trump have filed for a cease and desist order against the Cruz campaign for running ads that depict Trump as pro-choice. It is a positive sign that among all the nonsense of the cmpaign and no matter the honest or self-serving motives, the term "pro-choice" is seen by both sides as the vicious insult that everyone ought to see it as.

I feel the same way.  Kasich is the only candidate I could support with any enthusiasm.  Of course, my saying so has probably doomed his candidacy.
