The NHL season has begun.  The local Minnesota team came from behind in the opener to defeat The Avalanche, a team from Colorado.   I think that 'Minnesota Wild' is a bit of misnomer as we are not known as 'wild' people.  Our cultural spokesman, Garrison Keillor, has had many conversations to illustrate our submissiveness and polite habits of subordination.

Collegiately, I root for my alma mater, the Miami University RedHawks (#10 in preseason polls).  Professionally, it's C-A-P-S, CAPS! CAPS! CAPS!

Another Minnesota team, a representative of the WNBA, is called The Lynx.   Better that this womens' team is called The Lynx rather than The Cougars.   The Lynx team is living out the Garrison Keillor description that the women of Minnesota "are strong."  One strong Minnesota woman is Maya Moore who sank a buzzer beater last night for the win.
