I'm super glad the Eagles won.  I like seeing other teams/cities take a big win and spreading that kind of love around.

I'm also reminded that I'm glad I don't gamble, because I would have lost sooooo much money.

The most combined offense in any NFL game, regular season or playoffs, in the history of the NFL.  Pretty amazing show all around!

Dave Benke

Maybe in terms of yardage, but more points were scored in this epic battle:

Enjoy Wilbon and Kornheiser daily on ESPN. Today they were discussing the infrequent football fans who only watch the Super Bowl for the dramatic touchdown plays.  They are, one of the two said, "like people who only go to church on Easter."

Just in case someone has something to say about the LCMS in the "Missouri Synod News Updates" thread.

I can't speak for Dr. Benke or Rev. Speckhard, but the Packers are NOT frivolous!  And they way the Packers have been playing this year, it sometimes hardly seems like football.  So, clearly, this thread would not be the place for our comments on the team from Titletown. :)

I will say that the amount of folks at the LCEF conference who had intense opinions on the Packers was extraordinarily large.  And filled with the kind of passion normally reserved in our national gatherings for deep theological conversation and reflection.

Yesterday, the University of Iowa beat the University of Illinois in football 63-0
This defeat of the Fighting Illini was worse than Custer's Last Stand at Little  Big Horn.
The real kicker is that Iowa won in the home stadium of Illinois in Champaign

So after the Hawkeyes beat up the Illini, the football fans were wondering what the
Chicago Bears would do against the Minnesota Vikings tonight.  The Bears beat the
Vikings in Soldier Field in Chicago  and stay in first place in the NFL North Division.
The Bears have a record of 7 wins and 3 losses.

Makes me wonder how the non-fighting Illini would have done.

Finally... after 14 years... the axe is back!

Will the Vikings make it a clean sweep tonight for Minnesota fans over their neighbors to the east?

No.  It must not happen.  Heads of Cheese must be worn proudly through the Mall of America after this game.

Most important sports fact: Notre Dame is 12-0 and headed to the playoffs.

The Grotto will be very busy over the next month.
