So there is a structural decentralization envisioned by the LIFT folks.  However, oversight for all of this will then rest with the Church Council.

Sorry, there are too many white people in the ELCA already.  Unless you've previously been grandfatheredparented in, no more allowed.  Colored people People of Color only.

Suggested this (at least the selling, not the double wide) at the 2010 Synod Assembly as a possible response to the reduction in pensions among retired clergy and AF debacle.  Mr. Swartling was there himself to tell us that basically they couldn't get enough money off it to buy another smaller property in the Chicago market.  But maybe the double wide WOULD be an affordable option....
