Hmmmm.  I have this urge to start tweeting and Facebook posting about a flash mob gathering to sing Christmas carols at New Life Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach this coming Friday evening at 7:00pm.

... better let the local Fire Marshall know ...   :P

I like that idea!

In Prince George's County, Maryland, the county fire marshal (technically, the assistant state fire marshal) has determined that sanctuary space will not have occupancy limits. He believes (probably rightly) that the political heat from some of the pastors that would come by saying, "Sorry, Pastor, but your Easter service is full" is too great.

Other spaces in the building (like fellowship halls) do have legal limits.

as I said somewhere else (including my homily last Wednesday night)... try singing something else en masse... even unbelivers go readily to the local orchestra's rendition of Messiah sing along....  would people join O Savior Rip the Heavens Wide or Jesus I Will Ponder Now or O Sacred Head?   Hmmm.   Everyone likes a seventh inning stretch but going to bat are two diffferent sets of priorities.                 Harvey Mozolak

Which only goes to show that singing en masse is different from singing in mass.
