How awful for him (obviously) but especially for his family. They are in my prayers.

For the servant of God Timothy, departed this life delivering that which may have been ground and formed to become the Bread of Heaven, that he may be translated into a pure loaf for Christ, let us pray to the Lord....

Just returned from a Memorial Service for Pastor Hauge.....

The service was led by the local Ministerial Association. The local RC Priest gave a fine homily. The service went too long as too many of the local Pastors all wanted to say something. I think the entire town must have been there. You have to love small town rural people. They know hardship; they know community. Saw many old Pastor friends from the region. Many of us were in WordAlone and such together back around the turn of the century. Bittersweet.

Afterword Debbie and I saw the massive hole in the warehouse where his truck and trailer of wheat crashed, killing him instantly I would guess. Life is fragile, we never know when the end is come. Probably best that way....

Please hold in prayer the Rev. Dr. Cathi Braasch, NALC pastor and fellow member of the Board of the North American Lutheran Seminary, at the unexpected death on August 31 of her husband of nearly 50 years, Red Braasch. Even though he had recently undergone surgery, his death was a shock. May God grant comfort and peace to Pastor Cathi and all family and friends. Pastor Cottingham will preside at the services, and I hope you will include him in your prayers as he ministers to all who mourn.

How sad!  May she be comforted by the promise of the resurrection. And may he rest in peace.

Pastor Braasch's daughter also died in the last few months, so there is double sorrow.

So on lunch today I stepped outside to sit on my favorite little park bench and enjoy a break and found that it was occupied.  It was a woman named Tamara, and she looked like she was having a difficult time.  No work, no home, probation for drug use, and new to this city, coming from an adjacent small town.  I offered her an ear and the best of my help for what it was worth.
When I departed, I wished her well, and she said "pray for me."

I said I would.  So I'm bringing her to you all.  Please keep her in your prayers.

I ask your prayers for my son Luke and his family (wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter). As they were beginning a vacation in New England last night, they were in a fairly serious car accident. They are OK, thank God; the other driver seemed not to be seriously injured but was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Rental car totaled, and today will be dealing with insurance, rental company, police report, etc. Please pray for the other driver, and for wisdom and calm for them.

They are in my prayers today as well.  "God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble..." from Psalm 46.
