Friday Night - I Am Tired
« on: July 16, 2010, 10:50:07 PM »
Point of Privilege - or am I out of order.

I am really stinking tired.  This is mentally and physically exhausting.  Are they all this bad or is it the extra two days?

I have felt like the spirit of the convention has been generally positive, but the last couple days have started to stink.  Today, in particular, was stinking a great stinking.  The hurt/angry feelings and the sore winners seem to be bubbling up after the gracious and magnanimous acts on the part of all sides on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I am really, really tired.  And I really want to go home.  I wish they had called a special convention.

Thank you, Rev. Chair.

Hang in there Pr. Sharp.  You'll soon be home, sleeping in your own bed.
Blessings!

I abhor boredom....

or in in 2016 - if we all don't kill each other, replace the two eldest with
Luke Z and James Sharp

Hey, did I say I was opposed to lists?  ???

Well, my publicity people have informed me that that's not really what I said.  If you'd like to know my real opinion about what I have said previously, well, you'd have to ask them.  I really don't remember.  But did I ever tell you that I'm all for lists?

Especially when you are at the top of them?????

Seriously, having met SOME of you face to face.... I am serious about why I would develop the list I did. ( I know WW wouldn't accept a nomination - I already asked - but that's why I would want him on it) We may fight a bit here, but no one hides their doctrine or practice among those I listed.  (well - at least I don't think they do!)  I would rather contend openly - and see reconciliation based resolution or no resolution, than hiding things with "can't we all get along".

I am NOT talking politics...some of the political crap that has happened here is sickening.  And I am talking about both extremes.  Yet I have seen opposing views share beers in a top floor suite in the Hyatt....and enjoy it!

You done good, Pr. Y.  Your reportage was stellar and excellent.  I also enjoyed the commentary.
What I missed, was your lengthy and well thought out posts during this convention.  Thanks for everything & Blessings!

James, your tiredness leads me to believe that you really worked this past week.  I'm glad for that.  I hope the last 1/2 day goes well and that your trip home is smooth.  Thanks.

So folks know, I'm going to be leaving the convention this morning before it really gets going so that I can get in at a decent hour back home before traveling from VA to MI tomorrow in a car full of 4 kids and a pregnant wife.  And we're hoping to do it in one shot.  So, I've enjoyed (well, mostly enjoyed) being able to serve you guys as best I could during the convention, and I'll be on in the coming weeks to post some more reflections on what happened and a number of conversations I've had.  And, of course, the Forum Letter will also be something to look for.  Not the Aug issue for my stuff -- but Sept and later...

Cheers!

Welcome to the club, guys!
I've been to at least 30 national conventions: ALC, LCA, ELCA (we call it an "Assembly"), LC-MS, Southern Baptists, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, United Methodists, United Church of Christ.
You want fun and frolic, go to the beach. Conventions are ridiculously hard work for anyone who goes and takes it seriously.
THanks, Scott.
