OK, here I am in beautiful downtown Minneapolis. The Lutherans are pouring in from all over. I've just been over checking out the convention center--adjacent to "Historic Wesley United Methodist Church" (which is, the sign in front proclaims, "a reconciling congregation," thereby serving as a symbol for the two most important items on the agenda next door). I was approached by a layman from a nearby community who has taken it upon himself to stand in the lobby and strike up conversations with people, trying to convince them to oppose the sexuality proposals. Saw a couple of rainbow scarves (so last year, isn't it?). Augsburg Fortress apparently can afford at least to continue bookstores at churchwide, even if the synods have been left out in the cold.
Things begin at 4 p.m. CDT with the opening Eucharist, the but 1:30 p.m. (again CDT) press conference with Bp. Hanson will apparently be webcast, so if you're interested in seeing if my prediction comes true, have a look.
