Holy Spirit proceeds .... from the Son?

Don't find that in the Bible.  Lutherans are sola tradition on this one.

LCMS Convention 2010 / Re: Resolution for 2013 Convention?

Minneapolis would be a nice place for the convention.  Good enough for the RNC convention in 2008 and a very possible location for the Democratic convention in 2012.

At least in the LCMS we argue over the Semper Virgo.  If we were in the ELCA we would be arguing over whether Mary was a virgin prior to the birth of Christ.

Who/what is the closed gate in Ezekiel 44?

could someone define what is meant by open question?

Has anyone seen any vote results for President of Synod by clergy vs. laity?  Was the vote for Harrison from the clergy vote and from the laity vote both approx. 54%?

Were the President and VPs speaking "ex cathedra" at the beginning of the opening Service?

the definition of "PROPERS" in the glossary of LSB includes hymns....   huh??

Next year September 11th is on a Sunday.  Tenth anniversary... bet there will be a lot of pressure to commemorate this event rather than preach the Gospel.

The Service ended with singing of "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken".

.... just kidding (but it is a congregation of the LCMS (the no-so-"Little German Synod)).

you mean they didn't run a political campaign to get elected apostle ?

Fr. Weedon wrote:

at the conclusion of the service we sing "God bless our native land."  The organist added his own festive flavor to the day by giving us as recessional the Washington Post March!  One little girl on her way out of church tonight observed:  "That doesn't sound like Jesus music."

Trinity V in our congregation....

Hymns worshiping God alone -- no nation worship.  Whether Pastor will include a petition in the prayers I don't know.  Certainly there will be no celebration of the sin of our forefathers in revolting against their government and starting an unjust war.
