IF Mary were not Semper-Virgo, wouldn't elderly Joseph have to register as a sex offender?

interesting to see on traditional Nativity icons that Joseph is in the corner being plagued by doubts and often shown tempted by Satan to doubt

Mike wrote, "From some accounts, they may have arrived some eighteen to twenty-four months after Christ's birth."

It is interesting that the Scriptures do refer to Christ as a child and not a babe at this point.

and yes, I meant "Stable" - good catch, PTM

Matt 2....

On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another path.

Why do we depict the wise men in the staple?

I just noticed that childhood obesity was already a problem 45 years ago (at least in the cartoon world). :)

The fact that the first Sunday of Advent occurs on the Sunday closest to St Andrew's Day is just a coincidence.  The first Sunday of Advent is determined by counting four Sundays prior to the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord.  To say otherwise is silly.

I have a feeling that most of these chruches that are being closed (merged with other churches) are larger than many (most?) Lutheran parishes.

it is also very unfortunate that a church body would be named after a state (Missouri)

if the Papists can name a church "ST OLAF", why can't the Lutherans name a church "ST MARY"?

Too bad you can't get rid of the flags, the organist, and possibly even the choir from the sanctuary and put them in the nave or choir loft.

We also dump the historic liturgy on this day for Luther's home-made one.  Also dump the historic calendar by trumping a Sunday with this commemmoration.

Pastor has read to us how services were held in Wittenburg and would like to conduct a service more in line with that at some point, but as of yet has not done so.

For the most part, he was "tradionalist".

An example of his attempt to "overthrow tradition in favor of individualism, Christian freedom.." was his dumping of the catholic liturgy for his own "home-made" liturgy.
