ELW #840.

This wonderful hymn was also a staple of the Moravian brass players in the 18th century new world settlements. It is quite thrilling to hear (or play) the version for baroque trumpets or natural horns available in The Moravian Brass Duet Book, Volume I.

Of course, maybe it's only possible for ELCA brass players since we have resolved our difficulties with the Zinzendorfers.  ;)

Your optimism is truly appreciated and, hopefully, not misplaced.

The synod staff works with congregations in candidacy, the call process, formation, leadership development, stewardship, evangelism, church finance, property administration, congregational management, and conflict resolution. The staff also maintains the roster and carries out work in accounting and communication.

NOTE: Former Bishop Robert Rimbo resigned effective, January 24, 2018.  An interim bishop will be appointed.

Excellent! Thank you.  :)

In the post that started this discussion, was the question:

Is there any accountability by Gettysburg College to the tradition which established it, or is it no longer a Lutheran institution of higher learning?

I graduated from Gettysburg College in '66.

Online, other than a very brief mention of the "Lutheran-affiliated institution -- then known as Pennsylvania College . . .", there seems to be almost no mention at all of any Lutheran affiliation.

The Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Donnella II serves as college chaplain. ( Perhaps someone connected with the Lower Susquehanna or other "supporting" synod could enlighten us as to synod support of the college?

Annually, the president sends out "season's greetings" rather than being so un-PC as to mention Christmas.

On your recommendation I got the Woodward book from the library - about 2 chapters in and I am fascinated and commend it to everyone.

Is this lunacy for real?

Yes - the bishop's talk was long but very clear. I was so glad that mj4 put up the link!
