Due to a tip from ROJ I might have a workable copy of the data.  I'll attempt a update of the data tomorrow.  I think we will lose today's posts, but we'll gain the 3 months back.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, I was unable to get the data.

Yes I've noticed some weirdness on the site, but I think I cleared it up with some more settings changes.  Please notify me if you see anything else, but I think that clears up the last of it.

Your Turn / Site Issues
« on: May 12, 2019, 01:40:16 PM »
It's been a long couple days.

So, our hosting company has been pointing us at the wrong server since March.  We found this out on Thursday when the site went down.  The server they where pointing us to was a server they rent to our previous hosting provider.  They don't have a way to access it and neither do we.  When the site went down they corrected the issue and pointed us to the correct server.  However the data since March is gone.

To complicate the issue when the DNS was pointed to the correct server the Forum was not working.  After at least one failed attempt to fix it.  It is now working.

We take regular backups, but the backups we have are from the unused server, so the posts from the past few months are gone.  I apologize about that.  I'm not sure what could have been done to catch this earlier, we did everything we where supposed to do.

We where not hacked, this was just a mistake by the company we pay to host this site.

Sorry for the outage.  We moved servers so it required some down time.  It also did not go as smoothly as we would have liked.
Everything should be working now.

Unless you have a weak password it should not be necessary to change your password.   Here is a nifty tool if you are not sure how strong your password is http://www.passwordmeter.com/.  I have also installed a couple additional security measures to stop this in the future.  For 99% of people, you should not see any difference.  Hopefully this is the last we’ll see of these issues, but internet security is a fluid thing and it seems like every time we have it all protected the bad guys figure out how to get past our protection.

It appears someone's account has been hacked.  I apologise for the email that was sent.  I am taking steps to ensure that the forum is not compromised again.  One of the steps I have taken is to increase the password streangth requirments for the site.  I will be taking further steps in the next few days.  Again, sorry for the inconvience.
