Comprised of course of players from Texas... 8)

Best player in Sooner history was from California - but you are right - Bosworth was from Texas....

Seems they don't have a team to play for down there...

(then again - you could be the o$u or $eC

An OU guy using $eC, oh the irony!  What is next, Barry Switzer complaining about SEC academics?  By the way, the team to play for 'down there' is in the SEC, but you know that.  How'd you like that Cotton Bowl last season?

Howdy Y'all,

There have been requests to do fantasy football again this year so the Schmalkaldic League is up again.  Those that participated last year should have received an email already.  If anyone else wants in, send me a message with your e-mail and I will invite you.

Pax Christi,
Sean

Still have openings for those that want in on the fantasy football.

Kurt, maybe you missed it, but there are some
civil engineering students on college football teams
and pre-dentist students.  Look at Universities
like Northwestern, Notre Dame, Stanford and you
will find some real student-athletes.  The NCAA
has cracked down and there are no more basket-
weaving courses available.

As long as there is big school football, there will be ways around rigorous academics. Recreation Science was a common one as recently as five years ago in my recent memory, at a school (which I will not name) that left the state of Texas this year for the SEC. Rice, Northwestern, Stanford do have higher standards for athletes. However, some of my students have gone on to play at "Enormous State University" schools, and I wonder how they ever passed their exit exams to get their HS diplomas. Yet they remain academically eligible on the next level. It still happens. I still love college football, but not all of these boys are Andrew Luck or Toby Gerhart.

Of course the highest academic standards for athletes (and the general student body, for that matter) are at Annapolis, West Point, and of course Colorado Springs, the most frequent home in recent years of the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. The prognosis looks good for the Falcons to keep the trophy again this year.

I'll have to check in more often.  The correct movement is that the SEC has moved into The Great State of Texas.  College Station is where it always has been and will be.  The correct title of the program is Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Science (RPTS) also known as "Rather Play Than Study".  More non-athletes than athletes in that major as I recall.  Agriculture Management is another common major for athletes at Texas A&M.  What are the common jock majors in Austin?  I'd guess communications or kinesiology?

Schmalkaldic League Fantasy Football is up again this year.  All last year's participants have been e-mailed.  If anyone didn't get the e-mail, send me a message.  Anyone else wants in this year, send me a message.

Gig'Em

Fantasy Football fans.  This league is waiting to draft for an even number of participants.  Five are signed up so far, we need at least one ... three or five would be even better.

Going to be a small league this year unless we get some more folks.  Message me if you are interested.  Good on'ya Mark.

Gig'Em,
Sean

Letís see, if I get this right: You lose the BCS title game, by scoring no points, having the fewest yards ever, you finish with five first downs, cross midfield exactly once and your best player Monday night was your punter. And you are still number 2 in the polls????

Letís make it real easy for the BCS and AP Polls. Just put them down as: 1 Alabama, 2 LSU, 3 Georgia 4 So. Miss 5) Who cares!

Nobody else exists in the BCS world. OK State? Stanford? Not on your life. This has to be the biggest joke of BCS history.

All I can say is: You have GOT to be kidding me????

There is a rule that states a college football team is barred from winning the National Title if said team looses to Iowa State.  Sorry Okie State but the Poke-Choke against Iowa State disqualifies a team from the NC Title game.  So ranked #3 is a about right.

Kurt,

Yeah, I heard about the fires.  Been keeping up through the miracle of the internets.  I heard there was one around Camp Bullis yesterday.  Praying for rain.

Could use some prayers as I really want to break a few commandments with the focus of my wrath being the President of Baylor University Kenneth Starr.  Yes, that Ken Starr of failed Whitewater investigation and Monica Lewinsky stained dress infamy.

It was a great football day in our house . . . much rejoicing.  The Buckeyes had a shutout, and our favorite former Buckeye made the final roster of Da Bears.  Plus, I should be able to look forward to a harassment-free week thanks to ND's loss.

You are far too optimistic.

Howdy Chaplain,

Feel free to cheer for the Good Guys this season...

We need two more people for the Schmalkaldic League Fantasy Football this year.  Get in soon as we will be drafting by the end of the week.  This is a yahoo fantasy sports league http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/

To allow other managers to join your league, send them the League ID# and Password. In your case, the ID# is 452379 and the Password is  'luther'.

We have 11 teams now.  Just need one more.  Who is going to step up?
